Icarus News, June 2008

Ollie has relocated to Melborne!

He will be taking up an academic position with the Centre for Electronic Media Art (CEMA) – you can keep up with his work here.

Meanwhile, Sam is still in London…

Nevertheless, Icarus will be embarking on a new (virtual) studio album, exchanging real-estate for an FTP server and reality for Skype. Luckily, we never really had a problem with the glitches our studio wiring often used to throw into the mix, Hopefully we can expect a lot more colourful interference now that we’ve expanded the distances involved by 16,913 km.

We’re hoping the album will be ready by 2009 and we will be looking to tour in Europe, the US and Japan and of course Australia sometime during that year – so if you’re interested in helping us organise any shows or know anyone who might be then please do get in touch.

In the mean time, in the pipeline is our first ever remix EP, which should come out in the autumn on Rump Recordings and feature remixes by Frank Bretschneider, Badun, Isan and Rumpistol.

Finally, there has been a lot of activity from the Not Applicable camp with the threat of a compilation also coming out in the autumn, featuring lots of new improvised electro-acoustic music by both Ollie and Sam and a new track by Icarus.

Stay tuned and see you in 2009 !
